A Prayer for Rest

Lord, we’re exhausted.
The uncertainty of the future weighs on us.
The ever-changing reports and statistics bring worry.
The ongoing debates cycle in conversations day and night.
To some degree, we’re tired.

Lord, give us rest.
Only You have all the answers we need.
Only You can get us through.
You alone hold the world in place and cause the sun to rise.
The very air we breathe comes from You.

The rest we desire results from trust in You.
We acknowledge that we do not control the future.
We confess our humanity — imperfection, and brokenness in all.
We need a Savior.
We need a Shepherd to bring us to green pastures.
Please restore our souls.

On this day and this week, give us the rest we need.
May we look out for each other.
Let us carry each other’s burdens rather than adding to it.
You invite us to live in a different way and pace.
Teach us to realize what’s ours and Yours.

Amen
